Solar control window films are designed to filter out as much as 99.5% of harmful UV light, reflect infra-red heat and reduce visible light transmission whilst still allowing good light transmission. Whilst no window film can completely eliminate the effects of fading through the solar spectrum, over 80% of UV, visible light and infra-red can be rejected by Llumar fade reduction window films. Solar energy enters buildings through ordinary glass windows as radiated heat, light, and glare.
Solar window films are able to reject a substantial percentage of solar heat and glare whilst allowing light to pass through, thereby helping provide thermal comfort as required by Health and Safety Legislation and glare reduction as required by Display Screen Equipment Legislation. These Legislations arise from European Directive 89/654/EEC.
